Εξετάζονται ζητήματα περιβαλλοντικών δεδομένων (άδειες χρήσης, ιδιοκτησία, μέθοδοι συλλογής, διασφάλιση ποιότητας). Επίσης, θα συζητηθούν θέματα ευφυών τεχνικών ανάλυσης περιβαλλοντικών δεδομένων (αλγόριθμοι μηχανικής μάθησης, δένδρα αποφάσεων, νευρωνικά δίκτυα, δίκτυα bayes, κλπ) - Εργαστήριο με το ελεύθερο λογισμικό WEKA (www.cs.waikato.ac.nz/ml/weka).

Παρουσιάζονται θέματα διακριτής μοντελοποίησης – Προσομοίωση καταναλωτών νερού με πράκτορες λογισμικού και αξιολόγηση εναλλακτικών τιμολογίων - Εργαστήριο με ελεύθερο λογισμικό DAWN (http://sourceforge.net/projects/water-simulator).

Θα εκπονηθεί εργασία η οποία θα αποτελείται από την επεξεργασία δεδομένων με στατιστικό πρόγραμμα για τη στήριξη αποφάσεων περιβαλλοντικής πολιτικής. Θα διερευνηθούν σύγχρονα θέματα διαχείρισης  περιβάλλοντος όπως αυτά προκύπτουν από τη διεθνή βιβλιογραφία. Οι φοιτητές θα μελετήσουν επιλεγμένες δημοσιευμένες  έρευνες σε διεθνή επιστημονικά περιοδικά.  Ενδεικτική βιβλιογραφία συνοψίζεται παρακάτω:
